Week 9, Thing 23

This experience was hard for me - esp. to find the time to sit down and just do it. I have learned a few useful tools like LibraryThing and I love YouTube. So, even though it has been tough, I'm glad I did it and I'm glad it's over.

Week Nine, Thing 22

I know our customers love the CD audiobooks and I think they will start to like being able to download books to their MP3 players too - especially as MP3s become more and more popular.

Week Nine, Thing 21

I have an MP3 player and I'm still not sure how to download music...so I don't think I'll be downloading any podcasts. Yahoo podcasts have lots of different topics - I even found a podcast about knitting. I could see where this might help a patron who wanted to learn something and needed some audio to help.

Week Nine, Thing 20

Here is my YouTube video:

Week Eight, Thing 19

I went into Pipl - People Search. I think it is a neat tool - but now you can't hide from anybody anymore!

Week Eight, Thing 18

I created a ZoHo account - here is a link to my document:

I like that you can create documents online and share them - just not sure how I will use this on a daily basis.

Week Seven, THing 17

I posted my blog under "Favorite Blogs" - I hope that worked.

Week Seven, Thing 16

Wikis are new to me too. I had heard of wikipedia before, but never used it. Wikis might be used in libraries when working in a team. If the team needed to work on a document, it could be shared on a wiki so we all could make changes.

Week Six, Thing 15

Web 2.0 does mean that libraries will have to grow and become more technology saavy. It's hard to stay one step ahead of our customers though! Technology is a tool to help the libraries grow and better serve our patrons. I just hope we don't forget that libraries are also about encouraging people to read.

Week Six, Thing 14

Technorati - did I spell that right? I had never heard of this before. Not sure if I will use it. I can understand that people may want to categorize blogs to help them find them on the internet easier...but it's a little above my head.

Week Six, Thing 13

Tagging is hard for me to understand. When I created my Rollyo account I "tagged" the search with "cruises and vacations" - to give it a category. Beyond that, I'm not sure what tagging is.

Week Five, Thing 12

I created a Rollyo search for cruises. Try it out if you have time, dream big!!!

Week Five, Thing 11

LibraryThing is another neat tool. I think we can use this in the library to list "staff picks" online. Here are the books I listed:

Week Five, Thing 10

Online Image generators - this was cool. Here is my image:
Yahoo! Avatars

week Four, thing 9

Merlin is a neat site, I have seen it before but haven't explored it too much. I like that you can see the state-wide training calendar there.

Week Four, Thing 8

Bloglines is a neat way to organize blogs. I don't read blogs usually, but I can see how this would be useful for others. The blogs I signed up for are: the shifted librarian, nyt book review and washington post book reviews. I am having trouble posting my bloglines account.

Week Three, Thing 7

My favorite technology related tool is my cell phone - pretty basic but I don't know how I lived without it before. My son sends me photos of my grandson - who turns a year old next week - and I love that!

Week Three, THing 6

Mash-ups are neat! Here is a "movie poster" I created: http://flickr.com/photos/gatorswoman/1372947748/.

Week Three, Thing 5

Flickr - I posted this picure - http://www.flickr.com/photos/gatorswoman.

Week Two, Thing 3 and 4

My blog is registered - horray!

Week One, Thing 2

Lifelong learning habits...the hardest habit for me is "have confidence in myself." This program is unlike anything I have done before and it will be a challenge for me. The easiest habit is 7 1/2 because I like to play!
